MOVING TIME AGAIN

Seems I still can not get a definite answer from Nibblebit about the Premium Services. The Pop Ups are really getting out of hand now. I am getting 3 or 4 in a row. Just as I close one, another one pops up. To top it off the Pop Ups are adult themed and this blog is mark as General not a NSFW blog. So that is messed up too.

Because of this I have moved the blog back to Wordpress. I will pay for the Premium Services there and now the Pop Ups will be a thing of the past. The bad part for me is that Nibblebit is easier to use and I like their choice of Themes better. Thanks for following me and putting up with all this nonsense.

POP UPS

I am very sorry about the Pop Ups you are probably getting when visiting my site. Until the blog host Nibblebit start to offer the Premium Services that they have said were “Coming” I have no control over the situation. When they do get around to offering the service , I will subscribe and the Pop Ups will be gone.

THE BIG DAY

Today is the big day for Songkran up here in Khlong Lan. The people were milling around fairly early but they still were not in the full swing of things yet. That will come about 2PM. We had gotten all the way into town this morning with just one little bit of water from a small water pistol. That was to change. This little devil in the pickup truck just keep smiling at me as I was eating inside the open-air food stall.  He had that look that says ” I’m going to get you “   He did.  As we were leaving he tossed a bucket of water on me. I could not get the picture because I had my back to him.

Traffic was starting to pick up a bit in town and as the trucks rolled in, it got wetter.

As we started back home people had started setting up there attack stations in preparation for the fun ahead. They did not have to wait long because the traffic was starting to build.

I don’t know how we managed it but we make it the rest of the way home without getting wet.  Choa said it was too slow and that we should go out again later in the afternoon.  Looks like I am going to get wet again

SONGKRAN IS IN FULL SWING

Songkran is in full swing now and it looks like it is going to be a fun filled day. Choa and I had no more left the little soi we live on and we ran into 2 of the cutest kids, brother and sister. They stood there with smiles on their faces and waving us to come to a stop. We did, they tosses 2 small bowls of water. Mother was sitting on the porch laughing for all she was worth.

We don’t get much further down the road and we start to hear loud music. No wonder, look at the size of the speakers on the side of the road.

We continue along and the crowds start to get bigger and of course bigger pails of water so we really get drenched.  See how nice and clean the water is in the last pic.

We keep moving along and the water keeps coming but that is to be expected I guess

THE SWIMMING HOLE

Today was the first day of Songkran up here and for the most part the roads and sois were pretty quiet. Choa wanted to head down to a swimming area that is formed from the stream waters of a waterfall. He said many people are always there at the beginning of the holiday.

The area was packed as he said it would be and mostly all families relaxing on the waters edge while the kids played to their hearts content

Even the older kids and family pets got into the water. Can’t let the little ones have all the fun.

These two were having a ball the whole time I was there.  Mr Laid Back and

Mr Hollywood.

A LITTLE WORK TO BE DONE

When we got back home from Pattaya we found out that it had rained a bit while we were gone. This is a good thing for the corn crop. When Choa harvests the corn next month he should do OK with it. As it turns out we might need it.

The rain also brought some high winds it seems and now we need to replace a couple of the bamboo seating areas next to the shop along with many of the ceiling tiles on the house patio. Dirt along one of the ponds was completely knocked down and that needs to be replaced. Does it ever end :)

Choa is getting all excited about Songkran. He has made preparations to get the shop ready so he can sell BBQ, beer and whiskey for 4 to 5 days they celebrate Songkran here. It should be fun and I am looking forward to it. We were going to head to Pattaya after Songkran finished here but decided to just wait. Traffic on the bus and at the bus station in BKK will be unbelievable. Hope to take some nice pics of all the doings going on up here..

Take care

I JUST CAN NOT WAIT

I just got back to the house after going to the post office in Khlong Lan. When I unlock the door and go inside I notice that the room seems a little larger than it did before I left. The couch is gone ! Nothing else has been touched, just the couch.

I called Choa to see what was going on but can’t reach him because he has left his phone at the house on the charger.

I can’t wait to hear this story. You know it really has to be good.

UPDATE

Seems there was a funeral up the road a bit and they had so many people there that there were not enough seats for the monks.  Choa loaned the couch to them so they would have a comfortable place to sit.

I knew it would be good   :)

AREN’T YOU GLAD THAT ……………..

Jomtien Beach doesn’t look like this. People have been complaining that Jomtien isn’t as busy or as much fun as it used to be. I think I like it is better the way it is rather than this. This is just too too crowded.

PAPA

I don’t really know what it is with Papa that keeps him going. He is 87 years old and never seems to stop. He and his girlfriend who is in her middle 70s never seem to stop. They spend most of their time in the gardens at his house or Choa’s. If I only had that much energy.

Not once has he or anyone in the family asked me for anything. They are proud, hard working and wonderful people.  Papa is really a very happy person and a joy to be around.  He comes by almost daily to work in the veggie garden he has started beside the house.  After he works a bit a little nap is in order either on the patio or on the sofa.  One great Father-in Law so to speak.

DIRT

I’m not sure what is going on here but Choa arranged to have some dirt delivered to the house. When we got 2 loads by the house and then another 5 loads by the shop delivered I asked him what he was going to do with all the dirt. I was told it was to help level out the grounds. Of course my first thought was “How much is this going to cost?”. Free it seems. The owner of the truck wanted some dirt from Papa’s land across the road and Choa said OK as long as he got 7 loads for free and they had to spread it out. Done deal it seems.

I’M SO VAIN

Khun Mr. I’m So Vain had some new photos made and when he saw me working on the blog he wanted to post some. So, here they are so I can keep harmony in the family.  Now maybe he will leave me alone for awhile .
